Foundation Members

Hamato Michelangelo:

After the loss of his arm, Michelangelo adapted to his handicap.  Acting mostly as the primary Turtle field operative, he is often partnered with Donatello's Metalhead robot.  He suffered from a bout of depression feeling responsible for the loss of Raphael, eventually Mondo Gecko talked him out of his depression, bring Michelangelo back to himself.

Hamato Donatello:

After the loss of Raphael, Donatello buried himself in the lab, and began acting as the central contact point for the Foundation members, and the
other teams nationwide.  No longer frequenting the field, he primarily uses the Metalhead robot as a field proxy, often remotely controlling the robot (though it is capable of auto pilot).

April O'Neil:

One of the oldest allies of the Ninja Turtles, April O'Neil has left Channel 6, striking out as a freelance reporter.  Often passing on information when she thinks it's something that netted the Mutants intervention.

Casey Jones:

A slightly violent vigilante, who has been able to reel in his extremes as he's aged.  Occasionally aiding the Foundation, but often having to forgo such excursions after his adopted daughter came to stay with him in New York.  Though as his daughter has gotten older, and started showing interest in a similar lifestyle, he has found himself able to hit the streets a little more often.

Hamato Leonardo:

While not actively part of the Mutant Foundation, Leonardo does occasionally aid his brothers and allies when necessary.  More often than not Leonardo keeps well to himself, living in isolation on one of the abandoned islands off the coast of Manhattan.  Here he trains, meditates and maintains a sense of disconnection with the rest of the world, believing himself to be a failure as a brother and a leader after the loss of Raphael.

Umeko/Ninjara:

Little is known about her life before she found her way to New York, having arrived while following the trail of a person who was attempting to revive the Foot Clan, and restore honor to the title Shredder.  Ninjara cautiously accepts membership into the Foundation, but ultimately proves herself a valuable ally and member.

The setting

The day that Dimension X was sealed away permanently, was the day that everything completely changed.  Donatello’s plan had worked flawlessly, the implosion of the Portal Device had effectively pulled the Technodrone, Krang and the Shredder back to Dimension X as well as finally sealing the inter-dimensional barrier for good, but then the incident happened.  As everything in the immediate vicinity was pulled into the temporal implosion, the Turtles has managed to bind themselves to steady mounts to keep from getting pulled in along with everything not tied down.  Three of four bindings held strong, Raphael’s though was pulled loose as he was trapped in the inter-dimensional vortex with little hope of breaking free, Michelangelo being the closest to the portal point reached out, grasping Raphael’s hand swearing that he would hold strong, Raphael on the other hand knew it was too late, no amount of strength could pull him free and the portal was fast closing, the swirling clouds of Dimension X were surrounding the turtle as he yelled for his brother to let go, but Michelangelo refused, even as the portal was shrinking he held on until the portal finally sealed severing his left arm mid bicep.  The pain of the dismemberment failed in comparison to the fact he had been unable to save his brother, he soon collapsed into unconsciousness.

That was 5 years ago…

Eventually the Turtles accepted the loss, but held onto the hope that one day they would be able to find Raphael by some means, though the loss affected each brother in their own way.  Michelangelo decided that he would continue the good fight, adapting to his handicap despite the fact that Donatello repeatedly told him he could fabricate a false arm.  Michelangelo refused, only using a crude prosthetic in rare cases (such as when lifting weights, primarily to act as a balance).  His attitude became grim for a short while before being called back to his senses, by Mondo Gecko, eventually reverting to his old self, just slightly more mature.

Donatello buried himself in his lab work, often trying to find any way to possibly reopen the collapsed dimensional barrier, while also maintaining new and various equipment for their fight on crime.  Rarely leaving his lab for foot work, except in rare instances, he often maintained a presence alongside Michelangelo via the Metalhead robot, which he often controlled remotely, despite its ability to be self efficient.

Leonardo began to question himself repeatedly, chalking the loss up as his fault because he wasn’t as good a leader as he should have been.  This led him to disappearing months on end in hopes to improve and atone for his perceived failure.  It became far easier to assume that Leonardo would not be around than to hope that he would be.

With the loss of Raphael and the flightiness of Leonardo, the Turtles had come to depend on various allies aid in patrols and battles.  Mona Lisa, a mutated physics student  who had once aided Raphael against a pirate called Captain Filch, had made her way to New York, joining the Turtles in their new home, an abandoned hotel created by the mutant A.J. Howard in a crazed attempt to lead mutants and enslave humans, now decked out with all kinds of technological improvements.  Mondo Gecko, a young Gecko that mutated in the same ooze as the Turtles also was a regular ally being the one that verbally lambasted Michelangelo to quit trying to think like others and to think as himself, was another regular member of the team.  Other allies frequented the team as well, including the non-mutants the vigilante Casey Jones, his wannabe vigilante daughter Shadow Jones, a young teen
named Zach who often claimed to be the 5th Ninja Turtle, and the freelance reporter April O’Neil, among others.

Donatello had also established a contact network with allies all over the country as a means of providing aid whenever needed.  The “Punk Frogs” in the Florida Everglades, the team of Mutants known as the Mutanimals out west (including enemy turned ally Leatherhead), and a select few other Mutants spread out over the United States, being hot linked to the Turtle Team in New York.
Master Splinter remained in the lair as an advisor and still trained both Michelangelo and Donatello though in recent years he has focused more on the inexperienced fighters, such as Mona Lisa, and helping them learn to stand toe to toe with his “Turtles

Of course with the loss of the Shredder, many other more enemies had began showing up throughout the country, many vying to fill the hole in power that was left behind.  A man named Hun had began to bring various gangs under one banner, creating a gang known as the Purple Dragons with  a vested interest in technological and extraterrestrial advances throughout the city, also bringing his own gang of Mutants into the fray led by Bebop and Rocksteady.  A woman claiming to be the daughter of the Shredder had managed to lay the groundwork for a new Foot Clan in the city, though her numbers were small they grew daily in both human and robot warriors (many of which were developed after Baxter Stockman’s brother, Barney Stockman began to tweak the designs).  The man known as the Rat King had come to a rough alliance with the Turtles, assuring them that he would stay out of their way, provided they remain out of his as he maintained a small society deep within the bowels of the city, complete with his loyal rat subjects as well as several humans who had fled the city for various reasons.

A.J. Howard had a vision...a twisted vision...

A.J. Howard had a vision, a vision to give the city to the Mutants. His methods were less that ideal though, controlling the Mutants he hoped to mold them into his subjects. He built a tower/hotel to be used as his base of operations. With the help of several other Mutants as well as enemy turned ally Dirk Savage, A.J. Howard's plan came crashing around him. Though he did leave a legacy, the bulk of the Howard Building still remained, and the sheer amount of technology that powered the building remained mostly intact.

It was here that Donatello and Michelangelo set up what they called the "Mutant Foundation." Bringing together several of the city's Mutants as well as human allies, they were able to have a central base of operations, as well as a place of security and a home. In recent years Mutant activity had become minimal with many people writing off all the strange incidents of the past as nothing more than misconceptions. The Howard Building, with a little tweaking from Donatello, became cloaked as an abandoned warehouse (which seemed plentiful in this version of New York), allowing free movement of the residents inside with minimal intrusion from the outside world.

The former Howard Building is mostly intact from the 5th floor down, powered by alien crystals discovered within the Burrows (an underground city ruled by the Rat king).

The bottom floor consists of a fully stocked kitchen and dining room, laundry center, well stocked fitness room,a large den room area complete with sofas, chairs and large screen TV's, as well as several rooms designated as storage.

The bulk of the members of the Mutant Foundation reside on the second floor, where many of the rooms were prepared for long term living conditions.

The 3rd and 4th floors still remained mostly in disarray. The 3rd floor does does have an area set aside for Master Splinter, with the 4th floor being taped off to prevent access due to the previous damage.

The 5th floor was stocked as a lab, for both computer and research, mostly inhabited by Donatello and Mona Lisa (after she joined the Foundation). Much of the technology was brought from Donatello's old lab as well as what was salvaged from A.J. Howard's control room.

The floors above 5th are mostly still destroyed, uninhabitable by pretty much anyone, though a few of the Rat King's subjects have found it quite accommodating.

An underground garage allows for vehicle storage and also provides an area for sparring and a basketball court.

Ultimately the place is a step up from hanging in the sewers.

What is the purpose of the Mutant Foundation?

The Mutant Foundation is a place for me to tell the stories I want to tell, with characters I want to use.

My goal here is to tell a complete story dealing with the Mean Green Ninja Teens (who by the way are no longer teens). Far more than Ninja Turtle fanfiction, encompassing many stories and many characters in one common universe.

With the many medias that the Ninja Turtles have existed in, its hard to choose just one universe to play in. I want Mutants...lots of Mutants, but really don't want to write origins for everyone of them (especially the ones that already have origins). The best place for that, the original animated series, a series that had new mutants popping up every other week. Now, as a writer (or wannabe writer) I want to have my own spin on things, tell my own stories without be trapped into an existing canon. As such I'll say that the original series (until a time before the Red Sky episodes), is a lose backdrop to the Mutant Foundation.

Many familiar faces will pop up, especially the Mutants...as well as characters pulled from various other Ninja Turtle canons, but with a new spin.

So what is the Mutant Foundation exactly?

As the story unfolds the full extent of the Foundation will be exposed. Let's just say that the Mutant Foundation is a network of Mutants (and human allies) that were brought together by Donatello and the other members of the the Ninja Turtle team. There are several teams spread throughout the United States but all remain tied together via a Network designed by Donatello, exclusively utilized by the various Mutant teams as a support system.
